Yes, on this day in 1968, US President Lyndon B. Johnson signs the Civil Rights Act of 1968. Titles VIII and IX are commonly known as the Fair Housing Act. The 1968 act expanded on previous acts and prohibited discrimination concerning the sale, rental, and finance of housing based on race, religion, national origin, and since 1974, sex. Oh, that last part, don't want to discriminate against sex. Every hasher I know should be enthusiastic about that.
